NetStatus BD (“the App”) is developed as a network monitoring and diagnostic tool. Your privacy is important to us, and this policy outlines how we handle your data.
1. Information Collection and Use
- User Profile: When you register, we collect your name and email address to create your account. This data is stored securely in Firebase Database.
- Network Diagnostics: The App accesses your WiFi state, Gateway IP, and public IP to diagnose network issues. This information is used only to show you the current status of your connection.
- Location Data: The App does not track your precise GPS location. However, Android requires background network permissions to detect WiFi names, which we use solely for diagnostic purposes.
- Community Status: If you use the Community feature, your public IP and ISP name are shared anonymously with our database to help other users in your area understand if there is a general ISP outage.
2. Permissions Required
To function correctly, the App requires:
- ACCESS_WIFI_STATE & ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE: To detect if you are connected to the internet or WiFi.
- INTERNET: To perform speed tests and communicate with our database.
- POST_NOTIFICATIONS: To send you billing and network status reminders.
3. Data Security
We use Google Firebase, a secure cloud platform, to store your account and community data. We do not sell or share your personal information with third-party advertisers.
4. Third-Party Services
The App uses the following third-party services which have their own privacy policies:
- Google Play Services
- Firebase Database
5. Data Deletion
Users can delete their account and all associated data at any time through the “Delete Account” option in the Profile section of the App.
